Wings of Support (WOS) Helped Renovate the Children's Home
Wings of Support is a private initiative by KLM and Martinair staff. We are making an effort to provide shelter and education to children in the countries these companies fly to. The aim of the foundation is to provide direct and unconditional support to groups of children in the developing countries. This is realized by facilitating access to education, shelter and medical care.
Mr. Lex De Vries, one of their coordinators first visited House of Refuge in 2010. The Directress of the House of Refuge introduced to him how the foundation operates, its programs and services, and accomplishments including the success stories of the children and the foundation since it was founded in 1986. That first visit of Mr. Lex De Vries was followed by several visits. Ms. Eva Bosnjakovic, another WOS Coordinator, also made several visits. Sometimes on her own when she flies to Manila with KLM and sometimes with some other flight crews (a lady pilot and lady stewardess). This paved the way to start the WOS first project with the House of Refuge, the renovation of the children's home. The project started last October 2011 and ended last first week of December.
WOS also started sending the children with in-kind donations like clothes, shoes, bags, toys, sewing machines, computers, digital camera, and many things through the KLM flight crews. Ms. Kitty Meijburg is always busy putting all these stuff together for the House of Refuge.
